Handicraft Exhibition of Disabled Children in UN House

On 3 December 2008, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, an Arts and Crafts exhibition was opened in the UN House Lobby. The exhibits were the handwork of disabled children of Gyumri who attend the “Pyunik” Union of the Disabled NGO Gyumri branch. The latter was renovated with financial support of MTS-VivaCell.

As UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative mentioned in her opening speech through this exhibition, one can witness the talent and skills of Gyumri children in traditional crafts, such as painting, embroidery and wood carving.

This activity is another step to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also brings attention to the situation of persons with disabilities in this country, particularly, the children with disabilities.

The exhibition sale was open till December the 8th.
